Wow ...impressive. I just now stumbled on him, because I saw a harp guitar of him in a museum here on yt.

How many people on this earth would even begin to know what to do with that? I am very impressed with this man's music. The really weird part, I'm 74, and only just now, this instant, am discovering this man. I just happen upon a link to a concert he did at Red Rocks. I've feel as tho I have been cheated somehow. This is a pure example of proof, that I have been operating for all these years at such a low consciousness level. Brilliant. I first heard of Michael when Aerial Boundaries played on a local New Age radio station (1986). Found out he was a graduate of Phillips University in Enid, OK. Later attended a concert in Tulsa with his music professor - piano and guitar music. I still have his Aerial Boundaries CD. My meteorology background caused me to play Aerial Boundaries loudly outside while watching cumulus supercells develop on hot summer afternoons totally cosmic experience. Rickover's Dream also...

My favorite version of the song. While I appreciate his choice to record it as more of a studio-produced type of song on his album, I really wish we had a studio recording of this version also.

From 1994 to 2000 I sold custom electronic systems for residential and light commercial applications - Home Theater being the Big Dog at the time. I used this cut in my demo material and it just crushed every time. None of it is what you'd expect when you first look at the player and his guitar. On a bigger system, when he hits those deeper notes... man, you feel it in your sternum! Not that the volume was loud; it was more that you were hearing the bass notes clearly. His thinner strings just ring like bells.

Thank you for all of these videos. I’ve been a fan of Michael since seeing him in concert at the Kentucky Theater as part of their Troubadour tour in the ‘90s, so I’ve checked the Internet from time to time for his videos and you have so many videos I’ve never seen anywhere else. Much appreciated! The interviewer could have been better (haha), but you couldn’t ask for a better subject than Michael.

Thank you for this. Michael Hedges was the first of the Windham Hill artists that I was introduced to; I got to see him live in Chapel Hill NC around 1989. Nothing like him on this Earth, before, then, or since.

No one like him.

There are a lot of young people now who have the tapping and hammering thing down to a really fine technique. Most of them are too young to know who Michael was--or know Joni Mitchell--whom Michael told me inspired his playing. But, I don't think too many players have surpassed Michael in the kind of sensitivity to nuance and to artistry that Michael displays here. He was a nice fellow too. I miss him.

I discovered Michael earlier in 2024 through my father and on a whim I went to a record shop and asked if they had any Michael Hedges on hand - luckily the only record they had in stock of his was an original Windham Hill pressing of "Aerial Boundaries" - and as a lover of all types of music I can tell you I have never before heard such beautiful music, all produced by one humble man and his guitar. Michael's music has very quickly become some of my all-time favorite, even usurping musicians I've loved and listened to for years. To hear he had passed away so young and so tragically continues to break my heart, and music in the 27 years we have been without him would surely be different were he still around blessing us with his music. There will never be another like Michael.

I saw this guy two times in concert after being captured by the beautiful score “Eleven Small Roaches” which is still one of my favorites still in 2024. RIP GUITAR hero.
